Guidelines for Using AI in Academics
- AI as a Tool, Not a Substitute:
- Students are encouraged to use AI tools for brainstorming, idea generation, and enhancing their understanding of topics.
- Direct copying of AI-generated content is strictly prohibited. Students must critically engage with the tool and ensure all submitted work reflects their own understanding and effort.
- Transparency in AI Usage:
- Students must disclose when AI tools have been used in their work, such as for generating outlines or suggesting ideas.
- Critical Thinking First:
- AI should complement, not replace, students’ critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
- Respect for Privacy and Data:
- Students must ensure that sensitive or personal information is not shared with AI platforms, especially those with unclear data protection policies.
- Teacher Collaboration:
- Teachers will provide clear instructions on how AI tools can be integrated into assignments or projects.
